Dedjo

Polymer changed my-life. I live in the Barossa, work full time in earth moving and part time sculptor. Utilising rusty waste steel products, other people’s junk, and polymer clay. Techniques and themes, one day I manipulated the polymer clay using a cake decorating extruder, the result was thin bandage like strips. Adding the strips to my sculptures added another tactile dimension, mummification. Inspirational, the clay is my inspiration, creating something from my mind, with my hands, to reality. Dedjo, my art name came from listening to an Australian punkish band in the 80’s ‘The Birthday Party’. I took inspiration from one of their songs ‘Dead Joe’ to ‘Dedjo’.
