Deborah Smalley

Adelaide/Norwood based artist, Deborah Smalley, has been urban sketching using ink pen and watercolour since 2020, the year she joined the Adelaide chapter of the Urban Sketchers global community. Deborah completed an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design and Advertising (Croydon TAFE, 1998), which provided formal education in life drawing, design and illustration techniques. In 2021 she completed short courses in Watercolour and Portrait & Identity at Adelaide Central School of Art and for 12 weeks in 2023 she attended weekly classes with Watercolourist, Janet Bridgland. Deborah works plein air or from her studio and is prolific. Her work has been exhibited and sold since 2021 in solo exhibitions held in Adelaide and Goolwa. The enthusiasm for her style and passion has led to hosting roles in plein air sketching workshops.
